A Brief History of The Rejects

The Company

Rejects Revenge was formed many moons ago in Liverpool by David, Tim and Ann. From humble beginnings producing a couple of shows for a Merseyside Festival, the company has steadily grown into one of the country's leading comic theatre companies touring nationally and internationally for the last 6 years. They also hold the distinction of being the first foreign theatre company ever to tour Albania. The Rejects work full time as a company alongside company manager Angela Rowe.

Earlier Productions

"A highly topical little gem" Liverpool Daily Post, 1990

Pie in the Sky
The forgotten classic;performed by popular demand only 7 times, Pie in the Sky dealt with the burning issues of crop circles, alien visitations and time travel. Those who saw it very rarely talk about it. Directed by committee, designed by accident, song about hoola-hoops by David.

"A happeneing..."

Liverpool Daily Post, 1990

Boiling Oil and the Bouncing Monks
Two peasants from the neighbouring Birkham Monastary suspect the monks of stealing their livestock, wives, children and hovels, mainly because they saw them do it. Meanwhile the Head Abbot gets made Pope and the Inquisitor General uses her nipple wrench to devastating effect. Designed by Jo Harris, Directed by Gavin Robertson of 'Mime Theatre Project;. Plaintive medieval chant, nasal folk son and electric mandalin version of 'Three Steps To Heaven' by the company.

Superb physical style and timing"

Version 1 featured music by David and Andy Frizell; version 2's music was by Patrcik Dineen. Directed by Claire Binyon, who the moved to Portugal.

A humbug-free rewrite - God blees us one and all.

The Guardian, 1992

The Wheel
Three soldiers accidentally fire a cannon into a palace, as you do, and are subsequently sent on a quest to defeat The Rebel Leader. Needless to say, they are incompetent incompetents, but via a punt with rotten floorboards, the most depraved and peg-legged pirates of the seven seas and the massacre of most of the other characters in the play, they manage to save the day and end up back on guard duty. In 1994 The Wheel became the first show by a foreign theatre company ever to be toured to Albanian theatres, a hit in the Brouhaha International Theatre Festival in Budapest and at the first Spring Festival in Thessaloniki. Punt song by the company. Designed by Jo Harris. Directed by Wendy Harris.

Amazing! Rejects Revenge constantly make us believe the unbelievable... one of the most successful companies of the festival
